Please tell me a little bit about yourself:

I work in the European Market specialising in recruiting for SURF roles (Subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines) for offshore oil extraction activity which has been constantly increasing over the past few years. The skill sets needed in this industry are highly complex and I enjoy every single part of it from learning the technical side in the business and on site to project management and developing professional relationships.

People who know me and even those who don’t (!) would describe me as an extrovert, I really enjoy my job and thrive in such a busy environment.

You’ve recently graduated with a degree in Human Resource Management and are chartered with the Institute of personnel and development. Why did you choose this route?

I originally started on a general business degree which covered everything, finance, operations, marketing but it was HR which really got my attention. I took the initiative to do an unpaid work placement where I got to experience interviews, reviewing contracts, doing probation reviews, I liked all of it and it’s a really good fit with my personality.

A key element of HR which I think I enjoy the most is helping people develop their skills and seeing them enjoy an upward trajectory in their career.

What is the best part of your job?

I really enjoy dealing with our candidates and clients but most of all I it has to be dealing with the team. They are amazing. We have such a good time no matter what we’re doing. When we do well we celebrate and if times get hard there is always someone to pick you up and get you back on track.

What are the benefits of working in a global company?

For me it’s the growth potential, the expansion, I really want to be part of this going forward. We have the best team in the market to take us where we can go. Collectively we are always looking to exceed clients’ expectations and build relationships with candidates. We always have one eye on the future so that we all, clients, candidates and the team get the best results and outcomes.

What’s the best advice you can give to candidates?

Be open to opportunities to explore new things, be open minded. There will be massive changes in market and rapid technological developments in oil and gas and renewables in the next 5 – 10 years.

Finally tell me something not many people know about you

I could literally ski before I could walk!
