Please tell me a bit about yourself
I graduated from MMU with a degree in History. The course which focused on events in the 20th century taught me not just the facts about significant events but how to appraise projects and write in a succinct manner which is so useful in my current role.
Following graduation, I knew I wanted to move into an operations role and was fortunate enough to work in a variety of industries including a retail, finance (stockbrokers) and real estate. These roles allowed me to hone my customer facing skills. Prior to working for Applica, I was an onboarding associate which led me to where I am today.
What is your role and what do you do?
I am the contractor community coordinator and I work in the operations team. I work directly with Applica’s contractors, on boarding them, if they need to mobilise I’ll book their flights, order their PPE, whatever they need I’m their first port of call. I work with the whole team to ensure they know what is going on at all times.
What do you believe sets Applica apart for contractors
No matter where our contractors are in the world, they know that they will get through a known contact and will have their query or problem resolved. The culture at Applica is about the individual, it’s genuine, our contractors know that they are part of a community and no matter what we will work closely with them and support them throughout their time with us.
Why did you choose to work with Applica
From my initial interview with Matt and Yoohaina I felt completely at home. They were engaging and were interested in me and how we could work together. This is quite unusual. I just got a great feeling from the start.
Now that I’m in the role everyday I’m learning something new. The team is so supportive and helpful I get to work with colleagues and contractors from around the world and I just find it so interesting.
What is the best part of your role
Being empowered to help the contractor. Across the team I know I will get the answer which the contractor needs, and I’m supported to deliver that.
Every day brings something new and I’m fortunate to feel that at the end of each day I’ve done a good job.
What are you most proud of from your time at Applica?
Applica’s UK team recently completed a walk-up Snowdon from the Wood Street mission, a children’s charity based in Manchester. It was tough going, the weather wasn’t great, but everyone worked together and got through it.
Please tell me something not many people know about you
During lockdown I took a Swedish language course for 400 days straight!
So are you able to speak Swedish?
Ja! Jag är en nybörjare ändå (Yes! I’m still a beginner)
